Director-General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Dr. Joseph IkemefunaOdumodu, has said that the Federal Government of Nigeria recognizes Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL) as a major driver of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) development in Nigeria.
He said the company is impacting positively on the nation’s economy, through the guaranteed supply of high-quality polymer resins (raw materials) to over 200 manufacturers of plastics in Nigeria. This local supply of quality polyethylene and polypropylene keep plastics manufacturing factories running at a profit. “Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is very happy with the quality of your products”, he said.
Dr. Odumodu made this statement on Wednesday, 5th February 2014, during a corporate visit to IEPL Complex in Port Harcourt, after he and his team were conducted round the company’s laboratories, product-showroom and plants. He commended the company for reviving the moribund EPCL after its privatisation in 2006.
“You are doing a wonderful job here,” he said. According to him, the continuous maintenance culture of IEPL must have been the secret for the optimal operations in the company. The DG also commended the excellent public private partnership model of the company as well as its direct-marketing model. “We are quite impressed with what we have seen,” Dr. Odumodu said.
